"I've been a fan of Lawrence Kenshin Striking Breakdowns for a while now, so when I found out that he's writing a book and has been working on it all year, I knew it was going to be something special.
His public work is appreciated by so many legends, coaches, fighters, and fight fans, so I'm sure you already know all about it. But this eBook, it's new technology and that in itself differentiates it from all eBooks before it - it has playable videos!
These video tutorials feature elite fighter Chris Mauceri (he's such a savage!), the famous Muay Thai Guy, and their head coach JJ Russo. I've had high level coaches my whole career and I can confirm these guys are very high level. They know how to articulate complex ideas in a simple manner, which is a surprisingly difficult thing to do. As someone who is getting into coaching and bringing these ideas to life on video format, they are definitely people that I aspire to be.
This book is great, you will learn the fundamentals but also how to use these fundamentals together tactfully and strategically. There are books about basics everywhere - but this book is one that can actually help you equip those basics together logically. This book makes it simple to raise your fight IQ.
I can keep talking about why you should give this book a chance or why Kenshin's work is great, but if you've seen the other reviews already, I'd really just be repeating myself. I recommend this book to everyone that wants to know striking better."
Paul "The Reaper" Banasiak (9x Muay Thai Champion):
"The uneducated eye views fighting as two men aggressively swinging at each other in an effort to inflict damage; in response, Lawrence Kenshin artistically combines text and a visual experience to educate the world on the science and deep intricacies of fighting.
This piece serves as a form of appreciation for combative martial arts and its technical grace versus savagery, which instantly earned my respect. Bare fundamentals, advanced tricks and subtle adjustments are all displayed with credentialed instruction, great detail, and presented with real life application.
Lawrence’s knowledge and research is displayed over and over again. Learn a bit of history, up your striking IQ, and gain a new respect for the sport’s intricate details by tearing through this thing over and over again."
"Just purchased Lawrence Kenshin book. I have 100s of martial arts books and video instructions and I'm a real martial arts geek. However his e-book, and I know I'm jumping on the praising band wagon, is really good.
First off, LK knows his stuff, even as much as to go in to detail about the different boxing styles, (strangely something I've been going on about for the past few weeks!)
This isn't a book to teach you strikes, there are hundreds of those around, this is a concepts book and IMO that is something that I find more valuable. I definitely recommend this to coaches and practitioners who already have a certain level of experience and now wish to expand their Fight IQ.
It's currently on offer so worth heading over to his FB page and checking out the link."
Juan Molano (S&C and Striking Coach):
"Dear Lawrence Kenshin, I've been doing Muay Thai for about 18 years and have been coaching it for about half that time. In total I've been doing martial arts since the age of ten (about thirty years).
I'm also a fully qualified Strength and Conditioning coach, and functional movement specialist that focuses on performance and sports rehab for fighters (my passion). I'm only telling you this so that you can appreciate that I've been around and am not easily impressed.
I can honestly say I've never ordered a book as quickly as I have yours! I didn't even know you were writing one and was VERY pleasantly surprised that you HAD and I wanted a copy straight away!
The reason? I've been following your work for some time and have actually found someone who is equally as obsessed with Muay Thai and fighting as I am! Please keep up the excellent work and congratulations on your new adventure! 🙏🏽"
Ernest Tang (MMA & Muay Thai Fighter):
"I've been a huge fan of Lawrence's videos for a long time and when I heard he was writing, I could not wait for it to be released! The amazing content is one thing, but it was the opportunity to learn which I could not pass.
His new book, 'Striking Techniques Volume 1' is no different. Rather than showing you how the pros do it like in his breakdowns, he further brings in professional fighters to actually show you step by step and actually understand a lot of minute details for a specific move.
From the first notes in the first few chapters being, 'nice' and 'note', i soon found myself noting, 'must try this out' or 'damn, this is slick'.
Many people know Muay Thai as being the art of 8 limbs, but many make the mistake that there are 8 things to master.
Lawrence quotes, "There are only five notes in the musical scale, but their variations are so many that they cannot all be heard. There are only five basic colors, but their variations are so many that they cannot all be seen. There are only five basic flavors, but their variations are so many they cannot all be tasted. There are only two kinds of charge in battle, the unorthodox surprise attack and the orthodox direct attack, but variations of the unorthodox and the orthodox are endless. The unorthodox and orthodox give rise to each other, like a beginingless circle -- who could exhaust them?" Sun Tzu: Art of War.
Bottom line - if you're interested in a further understanding of Muay Thai or stand up fighting, buy the damn book. 5/5 would buy again. Thanks Lawrence Kenshin!"
Chris Mauceri (The Elite Fighter Featured in this Book):
"Check out Lawrence Kenshin's first book featuring Sean Fagan (Muay Thai Guy), our head coach JJ Russo, and myself. I promise you won't be disappointed!...
Lawrence is the man, and does excellent work that I'm excited to be a part of. Take a look at his ebook and all his other great work if you haven't already!"
Rengasayee Veeraraghavan (Life Long Martial Artist): "Thank you Lawrence Kenshin for a fantastic book. Just started digging into it - there's an incredible amount of content to unpack. But I'm sure it's going be one that I keep coming back to for a long, long time."
Joseph Lawrence Yunker: "The new book is phenomenal, just what I've been waiting for, thank you and keep up the great work... your work has helped me understand striking immensely sir, best of luck with sales, I'll be recommending it to everyone with the brains to listen!"
Walt Zink: "Bought this Monday. My trainer has told me he's read a lot of books on technique that are nothing compared to yours. Been a fan of your videos breaking down technique, too. Have used some of it in sparring and it's made a noticeable difference. Keep up the good work!"
